The Central Coast is known for its iconic sunsets, sweeping landscapes and dramatic headlands. So when it comes to choosing a location for an engagement session or proposal, it can feel a little overwhelming. When it comes to choosing a location, a few things need to be considered. Firstly, you need to consider your interests. The beach is lovely, but if you’re not a beach person, skip it. Secondly, key locations in your relationship: is there somewhere that holds significance to you as a couple? And thirdly, consider your physical abilities. If you’re still stuck on a location for your session as a Central Coast engagement photographer, I’m here to share my 5 favourite locations, which I hope you’ll love as much as me!
The Entrance / Picnic Point
Long grass, large trees and very accessible. This location is a popular spot for photography on the Central Coast and for good reason. As the sunsets here, one of the most spectacular golden hours takes place. But this spot is beautiful in any lighting, and if you’re happy to venture a little off the cycleway, it’s easy to find some private spots away from prying eyes.
Bateau Bay Beach
If the beach is more your style, check out this nearby beach at Bateau Bay. This is one of the quieter beaches on the Central Coast because it isn’t an easy walk to the beach. There are two access points, one down a steep ramp and one down a steep staircase. These keep the hordes of people away, and unless it’s summer holidays there’s a good chance of getting the beach to yourself.
Bateau Bay Beach is also one of the prettier beaches in the region, with both sides of the beach being surrounded by headlands. The small beach is picturesque and the perfect backdrop for an engagement session.
Snapper Point
By far one of my favourite Central Coast engagement locations is Snapper Point in the Munmorah Conservation Area. This is a very versatile spot, with secluded beaches, rock shelves and dramatic headlands. But on top of this, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to watch one of the best sunsets on the Central Coast. During the winter you’ll also be able to spot whales passing closely.

The Pines Picnic Area
Nestled in the Central Coast hinterlands, you’ll find Olney State Forest, a hidden gem and one of my favourite Central Coast elopement spots. However, it is also amazing for engagement sessions. The huge pine trees in the picnic area create a cozy and moody vibe, and better yet, it is also dog-friendly! There are hiking trails for those feeling adventurous and wanting to explore, but some of the best locations are only a few steps from the car!
