Georgia & Lydon’s Lake Macquarie elopement
Tethering on the cusp of Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast, you’ll find Olney State Forest. A former pine plantation which is now home to some of the most beautiful pine forests on the east coast of NSW. This is the backdrop for Georgia & Lydon’s Lake Macquarie elopement.
I first met Georgia and Lyndon in 2024 while they were planning their wedding. They bounced around on ideas of what they wanted their day to look like. And like many couples they faced the cross roads of ‘do we really want to spend this much money on one day?’ So they threw away the idea of a big traditional wedding, and originally were pretty set on the idea of a court house wedding, no photography, no dress, just the two of them and a signed piece of paper making their marriage legal.

After a little bit of time on this idea, Georgia said ”But I still want the dress.” and so the idea of their micro wedding in the Pines Picnic Area followed by a backyard bash came to life.
Georgia and Lydon really wanted a day to looked and felt like them, so eloping in Olney State Forest made sense because they love camping and 4×4 and this is exactly what this area is known for.

They wanted to keep the day light, fun and were on the hunt for a candid photographer to match their day. As a Central Coast wedding photographer, when I got the enquiry for a wedding here, I was stoked. I knew this was going to be a gorgeous spot for a wedding and I knew exactly how to capture their day in a way that would resonate with them. Looking back on the photos, I can tell you this was still one of the most visually beautiful weddings I’ve worked, and it had zero decoration.
The day of their elopement, it rained. It rained all across the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie and it didn’t look like it was going to ease up, but right before Georgia walked down the aisle the rain stopped and it cleared for the afternoon. It cleared long enough for one of the sweetest ceremonies I’ve witnessed and the rain didn’t start until the headed back home to host the biggest part of their lives.

So what did this wedding actually look like? Well I only spent 3 hours with Georgia and Lyndon on their wedding day, which is a short coverage for a wedding. But we ticked all the boxes. Ceremony, bridal party, family, portraits + individual portraits and details. To Georgia and Lyndon, these were what was important. Georgia said to me countless times during the planning process ”I don’t really care what happens on the day as long as I get to marry Lyndon.”Which was very sweet. After we finished taking their bridal portraits. Geogia and Lyndon headed home, partied hard with all their friends and family without worrying about everything being picture perfect, without worrying about formalities and without having to worry about hosting a wedding.

One of the things I love about being a Central Coast elopement photographer is seeing all the different ways that people decide to host their weddings. Everyone does it so different and everyone has different priorities and that’s something I love that we can capture through wedding photography, we can capture you.
